Water Statistics Platform: Visualizing Global Water Consumption
Every two years, the researchers from The IWA Statistics and Economics Specialist Group work together to gather and interpret data on global water consumption. This research gets published every two years, at the largest global congress for water professionals.
This process was done using email and spreadsheets and used to take a lot of time and effort.
We analyzed that data and interviewed dozens of water industry researchers to understand the job they we’re trying to accomplish, the process they were using and the issues they were facing.
The result? An online data visualization platform that enables researchers to gather, process and visualize the data and collaborate in real time.
This speeds up the time from when the data is submitted to when it’s published from months and years to hours.
Water Statistics Platform makes information on the global water consumption public and easily accessible. This helps industry and government make better decisions while keeping the public informed.
